There are 3 different types of categories when it comes to water damage in your home.
- Category One- Water that does not pose threat to humans and is classified as clean water. For Example tub or sink overflows, appliance malfunctions, and broken water supply lines.
- Category Two- Known as "Gray Water" some examples are discharge from sinks, showers, baths, washing machines and dish washers. This type of water damage refers to a source of water that contains a degree of chemical biological or physical contents that causes discomfort or sickness when exposed or consumed. Gray water has the potential to harbor dangerous bacteria and viruses.
- Category Three- Known as "Black Water" Black water damage is when the water is contaminated and can contain toxigenic, pathogenic and other harmful chemicals or agents such as heavy metals, pesticides, silt, organic matter, toxic organic material. Some examples are toilets overflowing, rising flood water, sewage back-ups and hurricane damaging winds and water.
